Cyclingworld 2019 - A small preview

Cyclingworld 2019 – Ein kleiner Ausblick

On March 23rd and 24th, Areal Böhler at the interface between Düsseldorf and Meerbusch will for the third time exert a significantly increased attraction on bicycle enthusiasts from all over the world. The public fair Cyclingworld Düsseldorf invites you to the impressive halls for two days. Within three years, the trade fair has firmly established itself in the bicycle industry, countless exhibitors appreciate the potential that the Düsseldorf location offers. After all, not only the Rhenish area belongs to the catchment area, but the entire greater Ruh area. And even the way from the Netherlands and Belgium - where the subject of bicycles has a completely different meaning - is short enough to beam across the border.

Women's movement road bike meets Iris Slappendel

In addition to our stand, we from the cap will complement the supporting program of the trade fair with trips of all kinds. On Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. our activities start with a joint round of the women’s movement road bike with the former Dutch road champion Iris Slappendel. Sixty kilometres, flat terrain on the left bank of the Rhine, a relaxed pace – on the excursion organized exclusively by women for women, the focus is on experiencing things together and getting to know each other. To get one of the limited and free starting places you can and must register HERE Sign in.

After the trip together, we look forward to welcoming Iris to the Schicke Mütze stand. She will present the new 2019 collection of her clothing brand "IRIS - I Ride In Style" there, and you can immerse yourself in the world of cycling with a wonderful chat.

By the way, if you want, you can test a navigation system from our Wahoo partners on the lap. If you are interested, please send an email to the contact address given below.

Classic ride meets “In Velo Veritas”

On Sunday morning the event offensive of the cap finally starts. It starts promptly at 09:30 a.m classic exit with the colleagues from “ In Velo Veritas ” for a relaxed tour along the Rhine. This ride is reserved for friends of the down tube shifter and is aimed at the ever-growing community of classic bikes. “In Velo Veritas” are something like the Austrian version of L'Eroica and have been delighting riders of old racing bikes with their fantastic routes through the Austrian wine-growing regions for years. Strade Bianchi with Viennese charm.

In addition to the beautiful tour with international guests, the participants can look forward to snacks and drinks after the ride. And as a special treat, an admission ticket to the trade fair is included in the starter package. The limited tickets for the exit are available for a fee of €15 per person HERE. You can get details about the trip and a small gift from the Austrian colleagues here on the website of the classic tour read.

Gravel, gravel & moss - gravelling in cap style

Shortly after the classics have set off, the first riders of our gravel tour called Schotter, Kies & Moos roll off the Böhler Areal. Just like last September's edition, the participants start in small groups of two to six people using the gpx data. There are two route lengths with different levels of difficulty available, the short, approx. 50 km long tour corresponds to the much-vaunted gravel tour of the 2018 Cyclingworld, the longer, approx. 75 km long tour invites you to cross the Rhine in the hilly terrain around Ratingen. Here a few more demanding single trails, descents in gravel, creek crossings and small ramps will provide increased "thrill".

Registration and tickets for this trip are available for a fee of €15. HERE . We will send the GPX data of the tour to all registered participants a few days before the tour. A small snack and a drink await you at your destination, along with tickets for Cyclingworld. And best of all: you can leave your bike in a guarded parking lot to stroll around the fair in a relaxed manner.

This is important to us...

It is important to us that passers-by are not annoyed by our tours, regardless of whether you are on the road with a guide or alone with the GPX device. Please be relaxed when dealing with walkers, dog owners, hikers, drivers, motorcyclists and everyone else you meet on the streets and on the small paths. Be nice to everyone and treat them the way you would like to be treated. A smile and a friendly hello on the way is always better than a “way there…”. All bike tours are a normal part of road traffic, there are no special regulations.

I borrow something...

Our partner LISTNRIDE will accompany the Cyclingworld trips with a fine range of rental bikes. Whether for the women's tour or the gravel tours, you have a selection of bikes available. More on this HERE .

Everyone who would like to navigate freely or simply complete the ride with our favorite Wahoo bike computer in order to experience the uncomplicated handling is recommended to Wahoo's offer to screw the little helpers to the bike for a lap. You can email Ingo from Wahoo: ingo (at) wahoofitness (dot) com and book one of the limited test devices.

And otherwise?

We always look forward to welcoming guests to our booth in the forging hall over the course of the two days. We will present wheels, frames, superstructures and parts from Ritchey, Genesis, Cinelli and Salsa at our booth, as well as the first superstructure of a stainless steel racer that we designed in cooperation with the German frame builder Uwe Marschall from Möhnesee. Further information on who is on site and when will also follow via Facebook. Even easier: come by. And let yourself be surprised.

In addition to us, countless clubs, cyclists, cycling clubs and companies also take part in the supporting program at Cyclingworld. This is how our partners of LISTNRIDE take a road bike tour into the surrounding area on Saturday. Actually, we would have liked to organize the round together with LISTNRIDE, but the logistical masterpiece of doing the shop, trade fair and two trips on Saturday would have been too ambitious. But you can be sure that Gert-Jan and his helpers will put on a great tour on Saturday, the spirit of which corresponds to that of our trips. Details on start time etc to follow!

We would also like to particularly recommend the 1 FixedGearCrit from the Life Is A Ride team, with whom we have already worked a number of times at events. The “spectacle with one gear and no brakes” again promises to combine great sport and great fun and is always a treat, especially for spectators. Date: Saturday 5:15 p.m., somewhere on the outdoor area of Cyclingworld.

Our third big tip for Saturday is this Biehler-Cyclingworld-Cyclocross-Challenge so-called cross races on the course right next to Areal Böhler. The BCCC has now developed into a meeting place for cross riders, where experts meet ambitious leisure champions in full throttle mode. Wet, happy and loud support guaranteed, go and cheer.

In addition to these three events, we look forward to the presence of the important campaign of Aufbruch Fahrrad , about the lecture by Maren "I hate running" Schink and her way from the couch to the bike, on Philipp Hympendahl's exhibition and much more. You can find information about the entire program on the Cyclingworld Düsseldorf website.

We look forward to the home game character that Cyclingworld has in store for us. In recent years, countless exhibitors have used the days before and after the fair to drop by the shop/café and take a look at our little place for everything to do with bikes in the backyard on Talstrasse. We look forward to showing our guests from all over the world the Düsseldorf bicycle community and taking small trips to the nice places in the city.
