Gravel, Grit & Moss at Cyclingworld 2026 - March 22, 2026 at 10:30 AM
Our Sunday gravel ride, part of Cyclingworld, can now be called an institution; since the first edition, we've been rolling out from the Areal Böhler into the gravelly surroundings. In addition to our partners from Albion, Orbea, and Ritchey, this year we'll be hosting GravelBike-Magazin at our booth and on the ride. Plus, the heroes and heroines from Climaid will be supporting us with drinks at the end of the ride. Our plan is to start in one or two guided groups, but we will send the route to all participants beforehand in case anyone wants to go faster or slower.
After mainly riding on the left bank of the Rhine in recent years, this year we'll be taking a small excursion across the Rhine into the countryside between Lohausen and Wedau. Here, varied terrain awaits us, ranging from wide forest paths to small forest trails, all easily rideable and suitable for groups. As always, we'll ride in a relaxed and considerate manner towards walkers, dog owners, and equestrians, slowing down when necessary and enjoying the ride without chasing KOMs or watt values.
In recent years, we've learned that our gravel community is quite waterproof; various rain showers haven't spoiled the fun. In bad weather, we will make an effort after the ride to enable everyone to clean their bikes. More on that soon.
Given some experiences from last year, we kindly ask that you come with roadworthy and well-maintained bikes. A helmet is mandatory, and clipless pedals make sense. The route has few elevation gains and is easy to ride. For the benefit of the group, we assume that all participants have already ridden a gravel bike and will behave in a group-minded manner. For emergencies, pack a spare tube, tire levers, and a multi-tool, plus a small snack and something to drink for on the go.
For us at Mütze, Cyclingworld is always a magnificent start to a new cycling season, which is why we've been filled with anticipation for months. Our booth in the Alte Schmiedehalle has been a small reflection of Mütze for years; we try to showcase an exciting and varied assortment there and will once again welcome some illustrious guests this year. If time permits, we will tell you more on the blog in the coming weeks.
Route length: approx. 55km
Gravel proportion > 50%, mostly firm paths, occasionally a short single track section without major technical challenges. Tire recommendation 40mm and up, in dry weather even a 35mm slick is not a problem.
Tickets with Orbea Terra test bike
Our partner Orbea makes it possible for you to test an Orbea Terra Team or Orbea Terra Race on our ride during Cyclingworld. The bikes' specifications do not correspond to the models shown; specifications and colors may vary. Please be in the entrance area half an hour before the start of the ride; we will bring the bike to you. You must bring your own pedals. The bike will only be handed over upon presentation of a valid current ID.
Tickets with Mütze:
The caps can be picked up at the booth at the fair or will be handed over at check-in. With your starting place, you will receive a ticket for Cyclingworld, which you can also pick up beforehand at Mütze. Additionally, this year we have created a ticket bundle with Cyclingworld, where you can get a limited CYCLINGWORLD X Schicke Mütze in white or black. Of course, "Fatto a mano in Italia."
