The Chic Hat Eifel Overnighter
Date: 05/09/2026 - 05/10/2026
Time: 9 a.m. (Departure 9:30 a.m.)
Location: Schicke Mütze, Oststr. 119, 40210 Düsseldorf
Arrival in the Eifel region: Saturday around 5:00 PM
Arrival of Mütze: Sunday around 6:00 PM
We'll head to the Eifel region, spend a night in a tent or room, and then head back to Düsseldorf. Sounds good? Come along!
Following last year's successful debut, we're now launching the second edition of the Mütze Overnighter. Starting at the Mütze (a local landmark), we'll cycle as a group along quiet roads and through wooded sections to Heimbach in the Eifel region. There, we'll spend the evening enjoying a communal dinner, weather permitting, perhaps with a campfire and sharing adventure stories. Afterwards, we offer a variety of overnight options: a cozy double or multi-bed room at the Klein & Fein guesthouse or at the Heimbach campsite – the choice is yours. In the morning, a communal breakfast awaits us, and then, refreshed and energized, we'll hop back on our bikes and cycle back to Düsseldorf.
The Heimbacher Klein & Fein guesthouse offers accommodation for up to 17 people in 6 newly renovated rooms. Freshly and tastefully renovated showers can be found in the small building on the hallway. Wi-Fi allows you to quickly upload your day's adventures, leaving nothing to be desired.
You can always book the double rooms as a double starting place, the places in the multi-bed rooms can each be booked individually; there is one four-bed room for women and one four-bed room for men and another three-bed room.
For a touch more adventure, visit the family-friendly local campsite in the Rur Valley. Here you can enjoy the location right on the Rur River, stay in your own tent, and of course use all the sanitary facilities. Bikepacking life at its finest.
Rooms at the Klein & Fein guesthouse are limited; there's more space at the campsite, but you should decide soon due to the limited number of starting places. We've limited the group size to 25 participants, which we think is perfect for a trip of this size.
The routes to and from the Eifel region will be approximately 70% paved, 30% gravel, though more like forest roads than singletracks. So you don't need to expect a completely rough surface.
We will take a longer break during both the outward and return journeys. You will then have the opportunity to purchase refreshments. Of course, you are also welcome to bring your own food and drinks during the breaks.
More information:
Before we set off together, we will brief you on the general rules of conduct. You will receive the routes as a GPX file a few days before the event so you can upload them to your navigation device.
Please ensure your bike is in perfect working order. However, we also expect you to have a spare inner tube, pump, multi-tool, and road-legal lights in your luggage.
Before the event, we will be available to answer your questions in an online meeting and provide you with all route information. You will receive an invitation to this meeting by email to the address provided well in advance of May 9, 2026.
