Crossing Borders 2026: Düsseldorf – Maastricht – Düsseldorf – Die Mützenlangstrecke 05.07.2026
In Zeiten, in denen der Gedanke eines freien, offenen Europas diskreditiert und stellenweise die Rolle rückwärts in Nationalstaatlichkeit als zukunftsfähig vermittelt wird, ist es in unseren Augen wichtig, Grenzenlosigkeit als wünschenswert zu feiern. Seit Tagen der Klassikerausfahrt pflegen wir freundschaftliche Verbindungen in die Niederlande, vom Stalen Ros in Neerkant über den Giro De Caffé unseres Freundes Paul bis zu den Pathfinder-Runden von Yorit sind wir gern zu Gast bei den Nachbarn. Daher waren wir schnell begeistert, als in Gesprächen mit den Freunden von Albion und Hunt die Idee einer Ausfahrt in Kooperation mit Off the Map in Maastricht entstand. Im März letzten Jahres haben wir die erste Ausgabe von Crossing Borders als Ausfahrt von Düsseldorf nach Maastricht umgesetzt, im Juli folgte dann die erste XL-Version mit weiterer Unterstützung durch Brooks, Climaid und Chimpanzee, die mit einer Strecke in der Form einer liegenden Acht Maastricht und Düsseldorf mit unterschiedlichen Hin- und Rückwegen verbindet und sich in der Mitte am alten Rurarm im Ort Floßdorf kreuzt.
Das Debüt im letzten Jahr hatte wenig Vorlauf und wir mussten im Rahmen der Organisation etwas improvisieren, was dem Spaß eines langen Tages auf dem Rad jedoch nie in die Quere kam. In diesem Jahr haben wir nun erste Erfahrungen, etwas mehr Vorlauf und gönnen uns einen kreativen Blick gegönnt, welche Ideen das Konzept ergänzen. Erstmal wird 2026 die Möglichkeit bestehen, Crossing Borders allein oder mit Freundinnen und Freunden im eigenen Tempo zu absolvieren. Natürlich immer in einem Zeitfenster, bei dem wir auch mit dem kleinen Team die Besetzung der Verpflegungsstation und des Wendepunkts bei Off the Map in Maastricht sicherstellen können. Entsprechende Zeitfenster für die Starter*innen helfen da natürlich und geben euch die Freiheit, zu entscheiden, ob ihr schnell oder langsamer unterwegs sein möchtet. Dazu werden wir auch 2026 wieder zwei geführte Gruppen anbieten, die sich im Tempo ergänzen, aber unterscheiden. Während die normale Gruppe unser Mützen-Social-Ride-Tempo von 25km/h im Schnitt anpeilt, wird es eine schnellere Gruppe geben, die mit einer Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit von 28-29km/h unterwegs sein wird.
Wir werden die Anzahl der Tickets von Düsseldorf aus auf 99 Teilnehmer*innen begrenzen, die Kollegen in Maastricht werden mit maximal 50 Fahrer*innen starten. Ihr könnt euch in Ruhe überlegen, wie ihr die Strecke absolvieren möchtet, wir fragen Anfang Juni ab, wie und wann ihr auf die Reise gehen möchtet.
Damit wir nicht nur eine schöne Geschichte zum Grenzübertritt erzählen, sondern die Ausfahrt auch einen handfesten Beitrag leistet, werden wir € 1000,- der Startgelder für die Flüchtlingshilfe „Flüchtlinge Willkommen in Düsseldorf e.V.“ spenden. Wir hoffen auf ein ausreichend großes Teilnehmer*innen-Feld, damit wir nicht draufzahlen müssen, aber das ist unser Risiko. Angesichts der Ausgabe im letzten Jahr sind wir jedoch zuversichtlich, dass wir ausreichend Starter*innen begrüßen können.
