While gravel was often associated with the more relaxed side of cycling, the gravel racing segment is becoming increasingly established, featuring bikes with generous tire clearance and sporty geometry. Ritchey's Swiss Cross frameset originates from cross-country, where agility, maneuverability, and off-road compatibility play a key role. Swiss rider Thomas Frischknecht, a multiple world champion in the 90s, achieved countless successes on the original cantilever frameset. Over the years, Tom has shifted the bike's geometry more toward gravel, although in my opinion, it's simply a good option if you can't choose between a road bike and a gravel bike. Depending on your tire choice, the frame can do a lot; with a 35-inch slick, it's the perfect all-roader.
