The "Protect Our Winters" - Beanies - Gravel - Ride
A gravel ride celebrating Protect Our Winters' Mobility Month. Presented by Café Du Cycliste.
We look forward to inviting you to a gravel ride together with the German chapter of the American climate protection organization Protect Our Winters (POW) and our friends from Café Du Cycliste.
The POW movement, founded in 2007 by US snowboarder Jeremy Jones, has declared October Mobility Month to highlight the importance of sustainable mobility for climate protection – especially in the context of outdoor sports. In October, they specifically encourage their followers to choose climate-friendly routes to work, outdoors, or to events – whether by bike, on foot, or by public transport. The goal is to raise awareness of how much CO₂ we can save through changing mobility habits and, at the same time, to demonstrate that climate-friendly mobility is fun and connects people.
YOU CAN GET YOUR TICKETS HERE.
Lukas Winter, chairman of Protect Our Winters Germany, will accompany us on our tour. At the end, we'll also discuss the goals, campaigns, and activities of Protect Our Winters. Look forward to a charming, yet highly informative, conclusion to our tour, as always. Coffee and cake will be served. Details will follow, as we'll be looking at where and how we'll end the tour, depending on the weather.

Climate change affects us all. And we're happy to be able to make a contribution together with you. It's not just about cycling alone; it's about highlighting connections within the ecosystem and constantly questioning our own positions and activities. We're aware that we're just a tiny cog in the game, but doing nothing is not an option.

The ride itself will be held in a relaxed, relaxed, and group-friendly manner. The route will remain mostly flat, even on the gravel and gravel sections. The main focus is on fun for all participants. Depending on the number of riders, we will decide whether to split into one or two groups; we'll discuss this casually before the start of the tour.
This gravel ride is a nice introduction before we start the second half of the season with our winter dirt parade on November 2nd.
Since we're riding in open traffic and are exposed to a wide variety of challenges, all riders should be aware of their responsibility as part of the group and act accordingly. The guidelines are set by the guides and organizers. Before the start of our rides, there's always a short introduction and route description; feel free to ask questions if you're unclear about any particular points. Safety and fun are our top priority, and while obeying all the necessary rules, it's important to maintain a relaxed atmosphere with one another.
Our basic rules
- We follow the traffic rules and drive at our own risk.
- You ride a suitable bike. With drop handlebars and brakes, whether it's a road bike or a gravel bike doesn't matter.
- We require a helmet and appropriate clothing, and the use of clipless pedals is highly recommended.
- Our guides will tell you where to go. Please pay attention to the instructions and follow them. We all want to have fun.
- Especially on gravel routes, we ride defensively. We share the trails with walkers, dog walkers, horseback riders, hikers, and many others. This only works well if we all show consideration for one another.
By participating, you accept these basic rules for the benefit of everyone.
